The Somali Rowing and Canoe Federation took part in the Confederation of African Canoe (CAC) Women’s Symposium, held in Angola, marking an important step in strengthening women’s participation in canoeing across the continent.
The symposium brought together national federations, technical experts, and sports leaders to discuss strategies for advancing women’s involvement in canoe sports, improving access to training opportunities, and promoting gender equality at both national and continental levels. The event also served as a platform for sharing experiences, best practices, and future development plans among African canoeing stakeholders.
A key outcome of the meeting was a collective agreement to organize the next continental canoe games in 2026, reinforcing Africa’s commitment to expanding the sport and creating more competitive opportunities, particularly for women athletes.
The participation of the Somali Rowing and Canoe Federation reflects Somalia’s growing engagement in regional and continental sports initiatives, as well as its dedication to inclusive development, capacity building, and the empowerment of women through sport.
